As a counselor, I’ve watched countless times as that seeming miracle occurred. More often than not, a person hears a simple statement. Just an idea said at the right time and place. And then the one who’s struggling says, “I never thought of it that way” and their world changes. Suddenly, all the obstacles fall away and change ceases to be an insurmountable task and becomes an exciting adventure. For that person in that moment hope for a brighter tomorrow has occurred and nothing will be quite the same again.
My belief is that hope is always waiting and we can achieve that change at any moment of any day. Accessing hope occurs when, for whatever reason, we move from accepting a problem as it is to the position of asking “what if I …” And in asking that question we suddenly see the opportunities and solutions for a better life.
